I love phone calls.

Along with Civil Eats, I've written for The Guardian, The Atlantic, The New Republic, Al Jazeera, The New York Times, The Intercept, The New Yorker, Guernica, The Nation, New York Magazine, Popular Science, Mother Jones, The American Prospect, Teen Vogue, Grist, Autostraddle, and The Center for Public Integrity. My articles have been anthologized in No Planet B, published by Haymarket Books, and The Best American Food Writing, edited by Mark Bittman.

My favorite stories, when I'm lucky enough to report them, allow me to peel back the layers of an issue but also catch a glimpse of humanity--whether its farmworkers traveling overnight to vote in their election or shrimpers docking their boats to protest low wages--in the struggle to survive and even prosper in spite of it all.

In a past iteration of my life, I went by Greta. So a lot of my articles are still under that name. I use they pronouns.
